Biography
Kathy Cox was elected as Georgia’s State Superintendent of Schools in November 2002 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in November 2006. Since taking office, Superintendent Cox has overseen sweeping reforms in Georgia’s public education system with a singular mission: “We will lead the nation in improving student achievement.” Superintendent Cox was a public school teacher for 15 years and believes in the power of great educators, engaged students, high expectations and strong parental involvement."  Full Biography

Superintendent Cox Wins Top Prize on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
On the Sept. 5th premiere of the television show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Superintendent Cox won $1 million by answering the question "Who was the longest reigning British Monarch?" After a very thoughtful deliberation the superintendent correctly answered "Queen Victoria," who reigned for 63 years. Read Full Story
