Under the auspices of the subcommittee on Cancer Centers, the National Cancer Advisory Board has convened an ad hoc P30/P50 Working Group to examine these two award mechanisms and how they might best be positioned to support and facilitate increased discovery and translation of research into the future. A statement of Purpose and Charge is posted below, along with a roster of expected participants.
The Working Group will formally begin its fact finding activities in mid-July 2002, and it is anticipated that a draft report will be transmitted to the National Cancer Advisory Board for its deliberation and final recommendations in February of 2003.
The Working Group is being co-chaired by Drs. Arthur Nienhuis and Joseph Simone. Dr. Nienhuis is the current Chair of the National Cancer Advisory Board Subcommittee on Cancer Centers, and Dr. Simone is the past Chair of the National Cancer Institute Board of Scientific Advisors 1996 ad hoc Program Review Group on Cancer Centers.
Portions of Working Group meetings which are open to the public will be noted on this site. Limited seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
Any questions may be directed to the Executive Secretaries listed on the roster. Individuals wishing to comment may also e-mail their input to the following address: NCIDEAp30@mail.nih.gov.
