BMBL Appendix DRestricted Animal Pathogens
Nonindigenous pathogens of domestic livestock and poultry may require special laboratory design, operation, and containment features not generally addressed in this publication. The importation, possession, or use of the following agents is prohibited or restricted by law or by U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations or administrative policies:
* Export license required by Department of Commerce. The importation, possession, use, or interstate shipment of animal pathogens other than those listed above may also be subject to regulations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A USDA/APHIS import permit is required to import any infectious agent of animals that is listed by USDA/APHIS as a restricted animal pathogen. Such a permit may be required to import any other infectious agent of livestock or poultry. An import permit is also required to import any livestock or poultry animal product such as blood, serum, or other tissues.
