Draft National Public Safety Sub-Sector Agenda

The NORA Public Safety Sub Council requests comments from individuals and organizations on the current draft of the "National Public Safety Sub-Sector Agenda."

The NORA Public Safety Sub-Sector, which is part of the Services Sector, includes workers in Corrections, Emergency Medical Services, Firefighting, and Law Enforcement. Nearly 2 million career professionals and an equal number of volunteers are employed in these types of agencies. (Employees of privately owned ambulance services are included in this sub-sector.) This preliminary draft National Public Safety Sub-Sector Agenda consists of sixteen strategic goals designed to address top problems over the decade. Strategic goals have performance measures to help gauge progress as well as intermediate and output/activity goals to describe the steps needed to achieve the strategic goal. Strategic goals for other services workers have been established by the NORA Services Sector Council and appear in a separate document.

The Sub Council seeks comments on the draft priorities, especially in relation to the most appropriate goals. Comments are also requested from organizations who will commit to advancing one or more Public Safety Sub-Sector goals through partnerships.
