The Deployment Health Clinic is dedicated to the care of veterans who are experiencing unique health concerns related to a specific military deployment. We are interested in meeting with any veteran who has deployment-related health concerns, even if the veteran is receiving his/her health care outside the VA setting. We provide comprehensive post-combat health assessments and follow-up for veterans returning from combat deployments. We also provide post-deployment health assessments and follow-up for veterans returning from non-combat deployments. After our initial evaluation, we would like to remain in contact and meet at least once a year with each veteran, with more frequent follow-up appointments if requested or necessary. Our staff has extensive experience working with recently deployed veterans. This experience has lead to a greater understanding of the unique stressors and concerns related to deployment and the challenges associated with post-deployment reintegration.

Deployment related health concerns include:

• Common and anticipated changes in physical health, mental health, family health and occupational and financial stability after returning home from any deployment.

  • Stress reactions and other concerns related to combat deployments or any deployment experiences that were troubling or traumatic.

  • Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam.

  • Environmental agents exposures in the Persian Gulf.

  • Ionizing radiation exposures during nuclear weapons testing.

  • Cold weather injuries related to service during the Korean War or WWII.

  • Chemical/biological agents exposures involved with Project Shipboard Hazard and Defense (SHAD).

  • Unexplained medical symptoms following a specific deployment.

  • Former prisoner of wars (POWs).

  • Any other health concern associated with a specific deployment.

If you don't have a primary care provider, the Deployment Health Clinic will serve this purpose until a primary care provider can be established.
