Kathleen G. Ott has been appointed director of the Congressional Relations Office in the Library of Congress.
Ott brings to the Library extensive congressional liaison experience in both the public and private sectors. Over a period of 25 years she held a series of progressively responsible government relations positions, rising to the position of director of government relations for Northrop Grumman Corporation (formerly TRW, Inc), a post she held for 11 years.
For the past four years, she has held the position of director of government relations for the Corporation for National and Community Service, where she served as a key member of the corporation’s executive leadership team working closely with congressional offices and appropriations subcommittees, the White House, the Office of Management and Budget and Executive Branch agencies.
As director of the Library’s Congressional Relations Office, Ott she will serve on the Librarian’s senior management team and be responsible for identifying and assessing the Library’s services to Congress and heightening the visibility of the Library, its programs and services with members of Congress, their staff and constituencies. She will also work collaboratively with top Library management to develop and implement effective strategies for securing congressional support for legislation related to the Library.
