Dr. Rajiv Jain, VAPHS Chief of Staff

Dr. Jain received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saurashtra University in India, in 1972. He served as a medical intern and resident at the University of Connecticut affiliated program in Hartford, Connecticut. He completed his Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1979. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Boards of Hematology and Oncology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. His current faculty titles are Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean for Veterans Affairs, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Jain served in many leadership roles at VAMC Salem and VISN 6 from 1979-2000 and contributed to many significant improvements in the quality of care. He was appointed as Chief of Staff at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in November 2000. He was appointed as the Program Director for the VHA MRSA Prevention Initiative in January 2007.
 
Dr. Jain has extensive clinical and research experience and has published many
peer-reviewed articles. He has been involved in the development of many innovative clinical programs and patient safety improvements at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare system.
