FOCUS ON SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH

Access to medical care is not the end all for health - a focus on prevention is paramount!  Please follow the advice of many Public Health professionals - locally and globally - and focus efforts on the social determinants of health (housing, education, discrimination, etc.) rather than just focusing on medical care.

It is also essential to focus on re-building our public health infrastructure so that population-based prevention for everyone becomes a reality.  Health care only accounts for 10% of differences in health outcomes, and our low-income and people of color have the worst outcomes - not because they lack the will, but because they lack the ability to make healthy choices.
