United States Marshal Dennis A. Williamson

   
  Dennis A. Williamson was nominated by President George W. Bush on August 1, 2002 to serve as the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Florida. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 24, 2003 and formally appointed by the President on March 26, 2003. Marshal Williamson serves as the Chief Executive for the U.S. Marshals Service in the Northern District of Florida and is responsible for leading a professional staff in meeting the agency’s mission.

The U.S. Marshals Service is responsible for the security of the federal judiciary and courthouses, apprehension of fugitives, transportation and production of federal prisoners, execution of civil and criminal process, management of the national asset seizure program, management of the Department of Justice Witness Protection program, security of the nations drug stockpile and other duties as directed by the Attorney General.

Marshal Williamson began his career in 1973 with the Sarasota County, Florida Sheriffs Office, where he worked in the uniform, detective and narcotic divisions during his 4 ½ years there. In 1977 Marshal Williamson was employed as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and assigned to a narcotics squad in Miami, Florida. In 1980, he was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor and subsequently transferred to the FDLE Tallahassee Operational Center in 1981. Marshal Williamson promoted through the ranks, attaining the rank of Deputy Commissioner in 2000. As Deputy Commissioner he was responsible for development and implementation of policy for FDLE’s Investigations and Forensic Science Program within FDLE, including the seven Regional Operational Centers and accompanying seventeen Field Offices and eight Forensic Laboratories, consisting of 1182 members with a budget of $89 million. Upon being nominated by President Bush, he retired as FDLE Deputy Commissioner on November 30, 2003.

Marshal Williamson is a 4th generation Floridian. He is a graduate of Florida State University with a BS in Criminology and attended the University of Virginia graduate program. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute and the FBI Florida Command College. Marshal Williamson is a member and past president of the State Law Enforcement Chiefs Association, the FBI National Academy Association, Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
