Welcome to the Arapaho and Roosevelt National
Forests and Pawnee National Grassland
The Rocky Mountain Region manages resources and
activities across more than 22 million acres of forest and grassland
in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. A forest
supervisor leads each of the 11 national forest and grassland units,
which are divided into ranger districts managed by district rangers.
The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National
Grassland (ARP) includes 1.5 million acres
of forest and grassland in Northern Colorado. ARP Forest Supervisor
Glenn P. Casamassa. Casamassa together with Deputy Forest Supervisor
Jackie Parks, lead a team of four group officers and five district
rangers. Casamassa is also the lead forest supervisor for all of
the national forests in Colorado and supervisor of the Capital City
Coordinator Cheri Ford, who works closely with the Colorado Department
of Natural Resources, the Colorado Legislature and the Colorado
Governor's office.
The Forest Supervisor's Office, located in Fort Collins, houses
the forest supervisor and four program groups: the Ecosystem Support
Group (ECO); the Recreation, Heritage Resources, Planning and Design
Support Group (RPD); the Engineering, Lands and Minerals Support
Group (ELM); and the Administrative Operations and Public Affairs
Support Group (AOPA).
The ECO Group is led by Hal Gibbs and includes
the following programs: Soils, Air, Hydrology, Fire and Vegetation
Management, Fisheries, and Wildlife. The Eco Group also sponsors
the Fort
Collins Interagency Dispatch and Aviation Center and Jeffco
Air Tanker Base.
The RPD Group is led by Acting Group Leader Erich
Roeber, and includes the following programs: Recreation, Heritage
Resources, Scenery Management, Concessions, Geographic Information
Systems (GIS), Information Systems, Integrated Resource Inventory
(IRI), Planning and Monitoring.
The ELM Group is led by Acting Group Leader Dick
Edwards and includes the following programs: Engineering, Lands,
Minerals, Special Use Permits, Boundary Management and Facilities
and Abandoned Mine Lands.
The AOPA group is led by Robin Winston and includes
the following programs: Human Resources, Public Affairs, Financial
Management, Civil Rights, Computer System Management and Telecommunications.
The ARP is managed on the ground by five ranger districts:
District Ranger Christine Walsh leads the Boulder
Ranger District headquartered in Boulder. The district
includes National Forest lands within Boulder County and portions
of Gilpin and Jefferson Counties.
District Ranger Ellen Hodges leads the Canyon
Lakes Ranger District headquartered in Fort
Collins. The district includes all the National Forest lands in
Larimer County. Canyon Lakes Ranger District is also the host of
the Roosevelt
Hotshots.
District Ranger Daniel Lovato leads the Clear
Creek Ranger District headquartered in Idaho Springs.
The District includes National Forest lands in Clear Creek county
and portions of Gilpin, Jefferson and Park counties.
District Ranger Lori Bell leads the Pawnee
National Grassland headquartered
in Greeley. The district includes all the National Grasslands in
Weld County.
District Ranger Craig Magwire leads the Sulphur
Ranger District headquartered in Granby. The
district includes all the National Forest lands in Grand County.
Our employees work closely with the Rocky
Mountain Research Station,
State and Private Forestry, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
