GIS Coverages
The San Juan National Forest operates a Geographic Information System
(GIS). We use ESRI's ArcGis family of products to develop various maps
of the forest and to perform analysis. Most of the data contained in the
compressed ZIP files is in GeoDataBase (MDB) format. We are in the process
of replacing all of the coverages with GeoDataBases. ArcGis software 9.0
or better is required to use this data.
File Compression Notes
The files to download are compressed with WINZIP. Each compressed file
contains an ArcGis personal Geodatabase (MDB). The GeoDataBases contain
metadata that may be viewed using the ArcCatalog metadata tool.

Available GIS Data
The following compressed ZIP files contain GeoDataBases (.mdb files)
which were created using ESRI's ArcGis 8.3 or 9.0 software.
All spatial data has the following Projection:
UTM, Zone 13, NAD 83, zunits: no, units:meters, Spheroid:GRS1980
Please note: These GIS data are being maintained and may change at any
time. We will continue to work on on edge matching, coincidence between
Forests, attributing, additions, corrections, and feature location.
All data have accompanying metadata and some may contain attachments.
