The IHS/ACOG Obstetric, Neonatal and Gynecologic Care Postgraduate Course
- The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the IHS present this Comprehensive Course (PDF - 611KB) with a multidisciplinary faculty and an attendance of family physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other health professionals. The lectures and hands-on workshops cover a broad spectrum of maternal and infant health. Sponsored by the ACOG Committee on American Indian Affairs.

- Some of the workshop topics include: Abnormal Cervical Cytology, Adolescent Health, Diabetes in Pregnancy, Hypertension in Pregnancy, Obstetric Emergencies, and Pediatric Gynecology, to name a few. All participants receive a copy of the shelf reference text Obstetric, Neonatal and Gynecologic Care for use by the attendees and their facilities. The course and the reference text are geared toward Indian health facilities, with special emphasis on management appropriate to remote and rural settings
- The course offers continuing medical education credits from ACOG, AMA, and AAFP, and nursing credit from the IHS Clinical Support Center. Curriculum planning, faculty coordination, registration, and management of materials, instructional room assignments, and audio-visual needs are handled by ACOG, along with development of a final report and evaluation document. Future course planning and refinement based on these evaluation measures begins soon after
