Driving Directions

From the North or South via the New Jersey Garden State Parkway:

Take exit 145 to Rt. 280 East.
-Route 280 East: Take extreme right lane of Rt. 280 East following signs to Harrison.
-Use exit 14A (King Blvd) at bottom of ramp, turn right onto King Blvd.
-Bear right and continue on King Blvd. Make a left turn at the third light (Central Ave.)
-Proceed two blocks and make a left turn.
-The Veterans Administration is the first building on your right.

Routes 24/78:

Take routes 24/78 to Garden State Parkway and follow directions for 280 East.

Driving West:

-Take Route 287 to 80 to 280 East, and follow directions for 280 West.

Driving North and South via the NJ Turnpike:

-Take Exit 15W to Rt. 280 West.
-Route 280 West: When near the "Draw Bridge Ahead Sign" prepare to exit.
-Stay left until passing first exit from the right at second Exit 15 sign.
-Upon exiting make a right turn (State Street).
-At light make a right turn (University Ave.).
-At third light make a left turn (Central Ave.)
-The first building on the right is the VA.

Driving from the East:

-From the Lincoln Tunnel take NJ Turnpike South to exit 15W for Route 280 West and follow directions for 280 West.

Driving north on Route 9 from the Newark Airport:

-Take route 9 north to route 21 north into Newark.
-After entering Newark on Route 21 at the first light make a left go one block to Broad Street.
-Make a right on Broad, take Broad Street to Washington Place.
-VARO building is on the left.

Public Transportation:

By rail to Newark Broad Street Station or Penn Station: From Penn Station: NJ Transit Bus #72, 76 or 44 from Penn Station stops at the rear of the building, walk to the corner of Washington Place ( in front of the park) to your right is the front entrance of the VA. From Broad Street Station: Walk three blocks south on Broad Street until you hit Washington Street. The VA Building is on your right.
