Description of Equations:
These three equations show mathematically how the future healthcare projections
are calculated. The first equation calculates the expected healthcare utilization
in a particular state, healthcare delivery setting and year based on population
estimates and per capita healthcare utilization patterns that can differ by age,
sex, and urban or rural location. The second equation incorporates the impact
of trends in the healthcare environment, economic trends, and other factors that
affect healthcare utilization patterns. The third equation decribes the calibration
adjustments made to the projections to incorporate state by setting fixed effects.
