Integrated Child Health Information Systems OverviewState public health departments collect information on the health of infants and children through a variety of information systems. However, these systems often operate in isolation of each other, limiting providers’ ability to access data important to delivering comprehensive and coordinated care. To address this problem, HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) is sponsoring the Integrated Newborn Screening Information Systems Initiative which funds States to develop their public health infrastructure by improving linkages between newborn screening and other child health-related programs. This Dataspeak program will provide an overview of MCHB’s activities to promote integrated child health information systems including newborn screening. State-level activities toward this goal will be highlighted through participation of State officials and a representative of All Kids Count who will describe best practices among seven states funded by the MCHB to integrate newborn screening information with other early childhood health information systems.
