Update for December 20, 2008

FEE SEASON FOR MT. ADAMS ENDED ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2008.  Please register and obtain a wilderness permit at the Mt. Adams R.D.

The Cascades Volcano Pass is required to climb Mt. Adams from June 1 to September 30.

Currently there are several feet of snow on the South Climb.  The 80 road and the 8040 road are closed with snow. Be prepared for extreme winter conditions.  Make sure you come with the ten essentials for safety.  Help is a very long time coming and cannot get to you in poor weather.

Blue bags should be disposed of in the human waste containers at the South Climb parking lot.

Do not climb in hazardous weather!  Note that weather can change rapidly for the worst in the mountains despite forcasts.

Review forcasts by the National Weather Service and any special postings by the NW Weather and Avalanche Center prior to any mountaineering.  (www.nws.noaa.gov)

Road Conditions:  All access roads are closed.  Will need to park at Pine Side or Snow King Sno Parks on the 82 road.  A Sno Park Pass is required to park at these locations.
