Northwest Forest Pass

NWFP Information

The Northwest Forest Pass is a per vehicle pass, good for one day ($5) or one year ($30) and is required at recreation facilities on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest where this fee is charged.

The Northwest Forest Pass is a great way to help maintain recreation facilities you use. It is good at participating trailheads, picnic areas, boat launches, rustic campsites, visitor centers and interpretive sites in the national forests of Oregon and Washington. If you are planning a trip to the forest, you may need a Northwest Forest Pass.

Expect to need a Northwest Forest Pass where there are facilities, trails or services that the Forest Service provides to enhance your experience. The Northwest Forest Pass is not valid where other fees are charged, such as at concession-operated campgrounds or day-use sites or at Forest Service-operated campgrounds where a nightly camping fee is charged.

The Northwest Forest Pass is sold at Forest Service Offices in the Pacific Northwest, numerous retail outlets, via the internet at www.naturenw.org,  or by telephone at (800) 270 -7504.

The Pass is an opportunity for you to help care for your land -- your natural legacy. 80% of the proceeds go directly toward restoring ecosystems, improving services and maintaining recreation facilities.

This pass replaces the Trail Park pass as well as several others and is valid at National Forest fee sites in Oregon and Washington.

Other features of the Northwest Forest Pass:

• Fees are charged on a per vehicle basis for both daily and annual passes.
• An annual pass is good for a full year from the month of purchase.
• Golden Eagle, Age, and Access Passports are now honored at Northwest Forest Pass sites. In order to be honored passports should be displayed, with expiration date visible, on the dashboard of your vehicle.

Concessionaire Operated Day Use Sites:

A day use fee is required at concession operated day use sites. The Northwest Forest Pass, Interagency Pass, Interagency Senior Pass, and Interagency Access Pass are honored at the following sites operated by Northwest Land Management:

• Goose Lake Boat Ramp
• Iron Creek Picnic Area
• Takhlakh Lake Day Use Area
• La Wis Wis Picnic Area
• Walupt Lake Day Use Area
• Walupt Nannie Trailhead
• Osborne Mountain Trailhead

Note: Passes are not required at these sites once services are discontinued for the season.

Free Days:

A Northwest Forest Pass will not be required on these days.
June 07, 2008  (In honor of National Trails Day) and
September 27, 2008 (In honor of National Public Lands Day)

November 11, 2008(In honor of Veteran's Day, U.S. veterans, members of the U.S. armed forces and their families will be admitted free-of-charge.)
