News From the Field A Warming Climate Could Lead to a Hungry World

Rapidly warming climate is likely to seriously alter crop yields in the tropics and subtropics by the end of this century, and--without adaptation--will leave half the world's population facing serious food shortages, according to new research from the University of Washington and Stanford University appearing this week in the journal Science. Other regions of the world, researchers contend, will also face serious challenges from climate change.
