In the state of Alabama, there are about
778,517
adults 18 and over who experience disability, representing 23% of the
population. 22.9% or 417,535 are women, and 23.1% or 360,982 are men.

report disability; for those age 45-64, the rate increases to 31.2%, and those
65 and over, 39.2% report disability.

Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander is not applicable. Not applicable for Native

report excellent or very good health, while 21.5% of people with disabilities
report excellent or very good health. 30.7% of people without disability report
good health, compared to 30.4% of people with disabilities, and 11.2% of people
without disability report fair/poor health compared to 48.0% among those with
disability.

report smoking, compared 33.8% or people with disabilities. Obesity 23.8% of
people without disabilities report obesity, compared to 34.5% people with
disability. Physical Inactivity. 12.1% of people without disability report
physical inactivity compared to 29.3% or people with disabilities.
Figure 4b. Immunizations. Flu (past year). 32.2% of people without disabilities
have gotten a flu immunization in the past year, compared to 35.1% or people
with disability. Pneumonia (ever). 21.3% of people without disability have ever
received a pneumonia shot, compared to 31.7% of people with disability.

76.7% of
those with disability. Among those aged 45 to 64, 85.1% of those without a
disability have health care coverage, compared to 85.4% of those with a
disability.

44, 72.4% of people without disability have a continuous health care provider,
compared to 79.7% for those with a disability. For those aged 45-64, 84.7% of
people without a disability report continuous health care provider, compared to
87.9% of those with a disability, and for those aged 65 and older, 92.8% of
people without a disability report continuous health care provider, compared to
95.5% of those with a disability.
