      Accomplishments

River and stream systems throughout New England, and the aquatic resources that depend on them, have been adversely impacted by many human influences, e.g. dam construction, improperly designed culverts.

In 2006 and 2007, the habitat restoration priorities of the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program include:

1) Atlantic Coastal Systems, with a focus on tidal wetland restoration (primarily salt marsh) and adjacent upland habitats, and diadromous fish passage through restoration of tidal flows, dam removal, or installation of fish passage structures,

2) New England Streams with a focus on removing barriers to upstream passage for diadromous fish, e.g. dam removal, culvert replacement/retrofit , installation of fish passage structures, and

3) control of non-native invasive species and management of early successional habitats to benefit trust resource species, e.g. invasive species control control/grassland restoration to benefit the listed American Burying Beetle and invasive species control/early successional habitat restoration to benefit the New England Cottontail.
