Environmental
Contaminants
Special Studies
The New England Field Office has conducted,
assisted in, or funded contaminant investigations both
on and off National Wildlife Refuges in New England.
These
investigations, funded by the Service’s Washington
Office, examine levels of contaminants in wildlife. The
results of these investigations have been used by federal
regulatory agencies and state environmental departments
to protect human health and the environment.
Here is an example of a Final investigative
report 2006_STS_Interim (pdf size 1.45MB). The reports have been peer-reviewed
by USFWS environmental contaminant specialists, other
government scientists, state biologists, or scientists
from non-governmental organizations.
