VAMC Memphis has received a number of accreditations and awards. Some of our recent notable accomplishments include —

Joint Commission Accreditation - 2007

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee received full accreditation during the triennial survey by The Joint Commission, completed February 5-9, 2007. During that week, a 5-member survey team conducted a comprehensive review focused on quality and safety of patient care processes provided to the veteran population for the general hospital as well as the Home Care and Behavioral Health Programs. The Joint Commission acknowledged the VA Medical Center's compliance with defined standards and other accreditation requirements. The accreditation cycle began February 10, 2007 and is effective for three years.

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's predominant standards and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including all medical centers in Memphis.
