Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why can't I renew my books online?
If you received a Suspension notice in the mail or via email, you
will not be able to renew your books online. Your library privileges are automatically
suspended and an "administrative hold" or "block" is added to your circulation
record. To restore your library privileges, send email to circmail@lanl.gov and
ask to renew all items checked out to you. Library staff will notify you once
your borrowing privileges have been restored.
Items requested by other
Library users will not be renewed and must be returned before your
privileges can be restored.
2. Why were my borrowing privileges suspended if I never received
overdue notices?
Overdue notices are sent via email. The third and last notice sent is a Suspension notice
that automatically adds an "administrative hold" or blocks your borrowing privileges.
If you use a spam filter with your email application, emailed overdue notices
sent by the Library may have ended up in a "Junk" folder or in the LANL quarantine. To insure that you are properly receiving overdue notices,
add library@lanl.gov to the list of accepted senders in your email application.
