The STVHCS has awarded the management part of the contract to CR Associates Healthcare, Inc., a veteran-owned health care management company, who you can contact for further information.  You can reach them at (210) 617-4020 for questions or assistance if you are an enrolled veteran in our CBOC program.

Your Primary Care Provider will provide you with:

  • Annual Physical Exam  (Not limited to just the annual physical exam)
  • Pneumonia Vaccine
  • Routine Labs and X-rays
  • Prescriptions

In addition to the primary care services you receive from one of these clinics, the full array of the VA medical services (including specialty tests and consultations) will be made available through the VA Medical Center.

South Texas Contract Community
Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)

The South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) began contracting with local primary care providers in 1997 to improve the access to health care services for veterans closer to their home or work.

These clinics were established to provide primary care to the veteran in their community.  Primary Care is a term used when one physician or physician group coordinates all of your medical care.  This physician (group) will be the doctor you will always see.  When needed, he/she will refer you to other physicians for specialty tests or treatments.  These consultations will be done at the nearest VA facility.  After the consult is completed, reports of this care will be returned to your primary care provider who can then continue to coordinate your care.

These clinics are by enrollment only and interested veterans should call our Telephone Liaison Care Nurse Program at 1-888-686-6350 for further information and enrollment.   Please do not call or visit these clinics for an appointment until you have called to enroll and received a confirmation of enrollment letter and clinic brochure.  The following are the locations of our contract community-based outpatients clinics in South Texas:

Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) Ambulatory Surgery and Inpatient Program

The LRGV Ambulatory Surgery and Inpatient Program was created in April of 1998 to serve veterans receiving primary care services from the McAllen VA Outpatient Clinic (MCOPC) or Harlingen VA Outpatient Clinic.  This program alleviates the need of the veteran to travel long distances to San Antonio for routine, non-urgent ambulatory procedures.  Since the program's inception, there has been over 4,200 referrals.  Only veterans receiving primary care from a VA contract or staff physician at either the MCOPC are eligible for this program and a referral from their VA primary care physician is required for these services.

We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.

We are dedicated to becoming your health care provider of choice.
