Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC)

Due to the high unemployment rate in New York, a total of 33 weeks of federally-funded emergency benefits are available. You may claim these weekly benefits in the usual manner. The last payable week of emergency benefits is the week ending May 30, 2010. Please check this website for updates.

UI Warning:

We have learned of persons or companies that may charge a fee to help customers complete or file Unemployment Insurance claims. They imply that they have a connection to the NYS Department of Labor. THIS IS FALSE.

The State Labor Department does not want our customers to be fooled by these claims. Customers in New York State should continue to file their claims for UI through our web site or by phone. There have been some delays recently at our call centers due to a high volume of claims, but we take all claims in the order they are received. Using a paid service to file your claim will not ensure faster handling.

Important Information for Claimants:

Form 1099G , which shows the total amount of unemployment insurance benefits paid during the 2008 calendar year, was mailed to claimants from January 7, 2009 through January 30, 2009. If you have not received yours yet, click here to request a copy of your 1099G.
