Directions to Shasta Lake area recreational facilities

These directions generally reference the Shasta Lake Ranger Station, located 10 miles north of Redding, as a starting point. To get there, take the Mountain Gate/Wonderland Blvd. exit off of I-5 (#687) and turn right on to Old Oregon Trail and then take the next right on to Holiday Road.  Both the Shasta Lake Ranger Station (14225) and the Shasta Lake Visitor Information Center (14250) are located on Holiday Road.  If you have difficulty following them, or they are inaccurate, please let us know and we will try to make corrections.

  • Antlers boat ramp - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 16 miles, exit Antlers road/Lakeshore drive (#702). Turn right at end of off ramp. Turn right at stop sign next to Shell station. Continue along Antlers road for about eight tenths of a mile. Boat ramp entrance is on right side before the Antlers Campground.
  • Antlers campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 16 miles exit Antlers road/Lakeshore drive (#702). Turn right at end of off ramp. Turn right at stop sign next to Shell station. Continue along Antlers road for about eight tenths of a mile. Campground entrance is on right side.
  • Arbuckle Flat boat-in campground - Boat-In only site located on the Pit Arm of the lake.
  • Bailey Cove campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 8.5 miles, exit OBrien/Shasta Caverns exit (#695). Turn right at end of off ramp. Continue along Shasta Caverns road for four tenths of a mile to the Bailey Cove junction on the right side of the road. Turn right and follow road about six tenths of a mile to the campground on the right.
  • Bailey Cove day use area - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 8.5 miles, exit OBrien/Shasta Caverns exit (#695). Turn right at end of off ramp. Continue along Shasta Caverns road for four tenths of a mile to the Bailey Cove junction on the right side of the road. Turn right and follow road about six tenths of a mile to the day use area on the left in the upper parking lot.
  • Beehive Point - Beehive dispersed area can be reached by traveling approximately 12 miles north on I-5 from Shasta Lake Ranger Station. Use the Antlers/Lakeshore exit in the community of Lakehead. Travel approximately three miles west on Lakeshore Drive.
  • Centimudi boat ramp - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South. After approximately one and a half miles exit 151/Shasta Dam Boulevard (#685). At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along Shasta Dam Boulevard for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection at Lake Blvd. Turn right and continue uphill to the Centimudi Boat Ramp sign about one mile and turn right. Ramp is downhill at the end of the road.
  • Chappie-Shasta staging area - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South. After approximately one and a half miles exit 151/Shasta Dam Boulevard (#685). At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along Shasta Dam Boulevard for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection. Turn right and continue about 1.5 miles to Shasta Dam. Cross Shasta Dam and continue to the left down hill along paved road about 1.5 miles to stop sign at bottom of hill. The staging area is on the right.
  • Deadlun campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South to the 299/Lake exit (#680).  Drive 299 east 35 miles to Big Bend Road (Co.7M01).  On Big Bend Road, drive 17 miles to the town of Big Bend, then 5.5 miles to Iron Canyon Reservoir. Continue north on Iron Canyon road. Turn left at the Deadlun campground sign and follow signs to the campground.
  • Dekkas Rock group campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698).  Dekkas Rock group campground is located on Gilman Road about 11 miles east of Interstate 5.
  • Dekkas Rock day use area - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698).  Dekkas Rock group day us area is located on Gilman Road about 11 miles east of Interstate 5 just before you get to the Dekkas Rock group campground.
  • Ellery Creek campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit at Salt Creek/Gilman Road (#698).  Ellery Creek campground is located 15 miles northeast of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road.
  • Fisherman's Point day use area - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South. After approximately one and a half miles exit 151/Shasta Dam Boulevard (#685). At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along Shasta Dam Boulevard for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection at Lake Blvd. Turn right and continue uphill to the Fisherman's Point day use area sign about one mile and turn right.
  • Greens Creek boat-in campground - Greens Creek is a Boat-In only campground located on the McCloud arm of the lake across the arm from Ellery Creek campground.
  • Gregory Beach - Gregory Beach dispersed area is located adjacent to Gregory Creek campground along the Upper Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake. From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698), and proceed up Salt Creek Road (also known as Gregory Creek Road) for four miles to Gregory Beach.
  • Gregory Creek campground - Gregory Creek campground is located adjacent to Gregory Beach dispersed area along the Upper Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake. From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698), and proceed up Salt Creek Road (also known as Gregory Creek Road) for four miles to Gregory Creek campground.
  • Gooseneck Cove boat-in campground - Gooseneck Cove is a Boat-In only campground located on the Sacramento arm of the lake just south of Beehive Beach.
  • Hirz Bay campground -  From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). Hirz Bay campground is ten miles east of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road.
  • Hirz Bay group campground #1 - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). Hirz Bay group campground # 1 is ten miles east of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road just before the Hirz Bay campground.
  • Hirz Bay group campground #2 - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). Hirz Bay group campground #2 is ten miles east of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road just before the Hirz Bay campground.
  • Jones Inlet (shoreline camping) - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, turn right and drive two tenths of a mile to the stop sign on Old Oregon Trail. Turn right and follow Old Oregon trail for three miles. Turn left on to Bear Mountain road and travel 8.5 miles to the junction of Dry Creek road.  Turn Left and follow Dry Creek Road approximately two miles to facility.
  • Jones Valley boat ramp - The Jones Valley boat ramp is located on the Pit arm just two miles from the Jones Valley campgrounds.  From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, turn right and drive two tenths of a mile to the stop sign on Old Oregon Trail. Turn right and follow Old Oregon trail for three miles. Turn left on to Bear Mountain road and travel 8.5 miles to the junction of Dry Creek road.  Turn Left and follow Dry Creek Road approximately three miles to facility.
  • Lakeshore East campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 16 miles exit Antlers Road/ Lakeshore Drive exit (#702). Turn left at end of off ramp. Turn left at stop sign junction. Follow Lakeshore drive about 1.3 miles to the Lakeshore East Campground sign, turn left on to campground road.
  • Lower Jones Valley campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, turn right and drive two tenths of a mile to the stop sign. Turn right and follow Old Oregon trail for three miles. Turn left on to Bear Mountain road and travel eight and a half miles to the junction of Dry Creek road. At the stop sign turn left and follow road about two miles to the Lower Jones Valley campground sign. Turn left on to campground road.
  • Lower Salt Creek (shoreline camping) - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698).  Lower Salt Creek area is located approximately 2 miles west on the Lower Salt Creek Road.
  • Madrone campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South to the 299/Lake exit (#680).  Drive 299 east 31 miles to Fenders Ferry Road (Road27).  On Fenders Ferry Road, drive approximately 18 miles.
  • Mariners Point (shoreline camping) - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, turn right and drive two tenths of a mile to the stop sign on Old Oregon Trail. Turn right and follow Old Oregon trail for three miles. Turn left on to Bear Mountain road and travel 8.5 miles to the junction of Dry Creek road.  Turn Left and follow Dry Creek Road approximately one mile to county road 5J050. Follow the county road approximately four miles to facility.
  • McCloud Bridge campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). At end of off ramp, turn right and follow Gilman road approximately 28.7 miles to McCloud Bridge Campground sign and turn right onto campground road.
  • McCloud Bridge day use area - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). At end of off ramp, turn right and follow Gilman road approximately 28.7 miles to McCloud Bridge Campground sign and turn right onto campground road.  The day use area is located in the same complex as the campground.
  • Moore Creek campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698). Moore Creek campground is located 11 miles northeast of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road.
  • Nelson Point campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road (#698).  Nelson Point is located approximately one mile west of Interstate 5 off the Salt Creek/Gilman Road exit. Travel 1/2 mile off the Salt Creek Road on the Conflict Point Road to reach this facility.
  • Packers Bay boat ramp - (Packers Bay boat ramp is only accessible from the southbound lanes off of I-5) - From the Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 8.5 miles exit O’Brien/ Shasta Caverns Road (#695). Turn left at end of off ramp. Continue under freeway overpass and turn left onto south bound I 5 ramp. Continue travel on I 5 south for about 1.4 miles. Exit Packers Bay Road, turn right at end of off ramp onto Packers Bay Road. Travel downhill about 1.8 miles where the road ends in the Packers Bay Boat Ramp.
  • Pine Point campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 11.5 miles, exit Salt Creek/Gilman road(#698) .  Pine Point campground is located 18 miles northeast of Interstate 5 on Gilman Road.
  • Shasta campground - *NOTE: You will need to acquire a permit from the Bureau of Reclamation office at Shasta Dam to cross the dam due to Homeland Security guidelines.  From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South. After approximately one and a half miles exit 151/Shasta Dam Boulevard (#685). At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along Shasta Dam Boulevard for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection. Turn right and continue about 1.5 miles to Shasta Dam. Cross Shasta Dam and continue to the left down hill along paved road about 1.5 miles to stop sign at bottom of hill. Campground is on the left.
  • Shasta day use area - *NOTE: You will need to acquire a permit from the Bureau of Reclamation office at Shasta Dam to cross the dam due to Homeland Security guidelines.  From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 South. After approximately one and a half miles exit Shasta Dam Boulevard. At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along 151/Shasta Dam Boulevard(#685) for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection. Turn right and continue about 1.5 miles to Shasta Dam. Cross Shasta Dam and continue to the left down hill along paved road about 1.5 miles to stop sign at bottom of hill. Campground is on the left.
  • Ski Island boat-in campground - Ski Island is a Boat-In only campground located on the Pit arm of the lake near the Mariner's Point campground.
  • Sugarloaf boat ramp - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North. After approximately 16 miles exit Antlers road/Lakeshore drive (#702). Turn left at Lakeshore Drive, then approximately two miles.
  • Upper Jones Valley campground - From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, turn right and drive two tenths of a mile to the stop sign. Turn right and follow Old Oregon trail for three miles. Turn left on to Bear Mountain road and travel eight and a half miles to the junction of Dry Creek road. At the stop sign turn left and follow road about two miles to the Upper Jones Valley campground sign.
