Directions to Big Bar area recreational facilities

These directions generally reference a Ranger Station as a starting point. If you have difficulty following them, or they are inaccurate, please let us know and we will try to make corrections.

• Big Bar campground - Travel directly across from the Big Bar Ranger Station on Corral Bottom Road. Cross the Bridge and continue on for about 1/8 mile. The campground will be marked with a Forest Service Sign.

• Big Flat campground - From Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on highway 299 three miles to the small town of Big Flat. Continue on 299 approximately 1 more mile to Wheel Gulch Road . Turn right at the Forest Service sign onto Wheel Gulch Road, driving up the entrance to the campground.

• Burnt Ranch campground - Travel west from the Big Bar Ranger, 16 miles to Burnt Ranch. Continue on to the Burnt Ranch Post Office on the south side of 299. Travel ¼ mile, making a right turn at the entrance of the campground.

• Cedar Flat picnic area - From Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on Highway 299 1 mile through Big Bar and another 7 miles through Del Loma. Still traveling east on the highway, you will continue another 8 miles until you reach the picnic/rest area, which will be located on the south side of 299. The site will be marked with a Forest Service sign.

• Denny campground -

• Hayden Flat campground - From Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on Highway 299 through the community of Big Bar. Proceed 7 miles through the town of Del Loma, continuing east 1 more mile to the campground. Part of the campground will be on the north side of 299 and will be marked by a Forest Service Sign. The other portion is located just east, (approximately 1/8 mile) and will be on the south side of 299.

• Hobo Gulch campground - From the Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on highway 299 West for seven miles to Helena Bridge. At Helena Bridge turn right on East Fork Road traveling approximately 3 miles to the Hobo Gulch Road (34N07Y) turn off. On Hobo Gulch road, travel another 12 miles to the Campground.

• Pigeon Point campground - From Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on Highway 299 for 8 miles. The campground will be on the south side of 299. There will be a Pigeon Point Campground sign shortly before the entrance to the campground.

• Ripstein campground - From the Big Bar Ranger Station, travel 299 west 15 miles to Junction City making a left turn onto Canyon Creek Road just passed the old bar and restaurant that is there. Once on Canyon Creek road, travel about 10 miles to the campground entrance.

• Skunk Point group campground -

• White's Bar picnic area - From Big Bar Ranger Station, travel east on 299 for 1 mile to the small community of Big Bar. Continue traveling east ½ miles. The picnic area will be on the south side of Highway 299.
