Mushroom Harvesting on the Lolo National Forest – 2008

photo of a morel mushroom

Photo above: Morel mushroom near charred wood.

Approximately 140,000 acres burned on the Lolo National Forest during the summer of 2007. Depending on local weather conditions, mushroom harvesters can expect a good harvest season during the spring and early summer of 2008.

Please remember that individuals are responsible for proper identification of mushrooms and distinguishing non-poisonous from poisonous mushrooms. Please also abide by the Lolo National Forest 14-day stay limit for camping and for proper disposal of trash and food. Those rules will be enforced by the Lolo National Forest.

The following documents provide information on the 2008 harvest season and permit requirements.
