Dan Kulenich

Daniel served with the Army in the transportation and engineer branches, and continues to serve in the reserves. He is a veteran of both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Kulenich came to VAPHS from the Department of Defense, where he worked for the Command Surgeon of the 99th Regional Readiness Command (commands five states of the Army Reserves) doing just about everything relating to the medical readiness of 20,000 soldiers, working with their medical conditions and also dealing with TRICARE (the Army’s health insurance).

Daniel is a Licensed Practical Nurse, and he also has a bachelor of science in Logistics and a bachelor of arts in Marketing.

He attended Robert Morris University. He has received various military awards including the Bronze Star, several Army Commendation Medals, and several Army Achievement Medals.

VAPHS’s patient advocate has also done consulting work for the Federal government as well as the private sector, was a manager at a medium-sized manufacturing facility, and has held other managerial positions.

Marilyn Tarver

Marilyn will be covering all three
VAPHS facilities as well as CBOC issues.

Marilyn has been employed at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) for over 19 years. She started her career as a nursing assistant. She was promoted to a Patient Service Assistant for the Eligibility/Patient Registration Section where she provided invaluable assistance to our veterans on a wide-range of eligibility issues.

In 2005, she served as Administrative Officer of the Day during irregular tours assuming independent responsibility and final authority on all administrative (non-medical) decisions.

Ms. Tarver is a Licensed Practical Nurse, and she also has an Associate of Science in Business Management. Ms. Tarver served as EEO Counselor at VAPHS from 1996 to 1999, and also received a Customer Service Award in 2003.
