Federal Employee Health Benefits Open Season Through Jan 2009

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is allowing agencies to accept belated FEHB changes through January 2009 due to the concerns of federal employees and Congress surrounding the costs associated with non-emergency surgeries performed by out-of-network physicians.

OPM has asked FEHB carriers to re-evaluate their benefits for non-emergency surgeries and will communicate any benefit changes to VA in a follow-up Benefits Administration Letter later this month.

That letter will be provided to human resources offices for distribution to employees. For details, check with your local Human Resources Office or the OPM Web site at http://www.opm.gov/ (look under What’s New).
