National Forest Foundation
The National Forest Foundation (NFF) is a private, nonprofit organization
dedicated to building action-oriented partnerships that result in
measurable improvements in the health, productivity and diversity
of our national forests and grasslands and the communities and landscapes
that surround them.
National Forest Foundation Grant Opportunities
The NFF is requesting grant proposals from organizations interested
in conservation partnership opportunities:
2005 Matching Awards Program
- $1.85 million available, to be matched on a 1:1 basis by non-federal
dollars
- Eligibility: nonprofits, local, state and tribal governments,
educational institutions
- Focus: community-based forest stewardship, watershed health
and restoration, wildlife habitat improvement, recreation
- Application due dates: Round 1--January 28, 2005; Round 2--July
29, 2005
2005 Community Assistance Program

"Start-up" grants in the $5,000-$15,000 range;
no match required
-
Eligibility: newly-forming and recently-formed nonprofit
organizations in need of capacity-building that intend to
engage in national forest management and conservation issues

Focus: to enable communities to play a more active role in
the sustainable management of nearby National Forests by supporting
organizational and technical assistance needs of grassroots
problem-solving groups
- Application due dates: April 29, 2005 and September
2, 2005
