Fernley Disaster Recovery Center Hours To Change

CARSON CITY, Nev. -- Lyon County residents affected by severe winter storms and flooding continue to use the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) set up by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Nevada Division of Emergency Management at the Fernley City Hall council chambers.
"The DRC provides easy access to information and resources to help residents get back on their feet. It is through partnerships with other federal agencies, the state of Nevada, the city of Fernley, faith-based groups and voluntary agencies, all working together, that help residents on their road to recovery," said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Mike Karl.
The DRC hours are as follows:

7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Fri., Jan. 18
7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sat., Jan 19
8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Sun., Jan. 20
Closed
Mon., Jan 21
8 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Martin Luther King Holiday)
Tues., Jan. 22 - Fri. Jan. 26
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
From Jan. 27 until further notice, the hours at the DRC will be Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. It will be closed on Sunday.
Services people can expect in the DRC include:

Guidance regarding disaster recovery;

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) program information, disaster loan applications, staff to explain the application process as well as help individuals and business owners complete their application;

Housing assistance and rental resource information;

Clarification of any written correspondence received;

Status of applications being processed by FEMA;
-
Information from other federal, state and local agencies to assist residents in their recovery; and
-
Answering questions, resolving problems and making referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance.
"FEMA is in Nevada to support the recovery effort and the center will be open as long as residents and business owners need this valuable resource. We remain committed to provide assistance to the people in Fernley," said State Coordinating Officer Frank Siracusa, chief of the Nevada Division of Emergency Management.
No checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at the DRC. The center is for the dissemination of information to assist residents affected by the disaster. Before visiting a DRC, those affected by the Lyon County disaster should register with FEMA. They can do this by calling 1-800-621-FEMA, TTY 1-800-462-7585 or online at www.fema.gov. Those without access to a phone or computer may visit the DRC for assistance.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
