Some fathers in the Las Vegas have embraced the National Center for Fathering's Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program to enhance safety at school. Father take volunteer shifts to provide an extra set of eyes at school before and after school and during the school day to ward off possible dangers for students.

Fathers Involved Before Birth Stay Longer

Fathers who are involved in their partner's pregnancy and in providing prenatal care are more likely to be fathers over the long haul, according to a story at MSNBC. A University of Maryland study found that fathers who had been involved with the the pregnancy in ways like buying things for the baby and helping the mother with her needs were much more likely to be close to the child three years later than fathers who had not. How can a father who has lost a spouse to death successfully manage the grieving process and find peace and new opportunities in life? As I have watched a couple of close friends recently become widowed, my heart has gone out to them and their families. They and others have shared some keys for surviving the grieving process and moving on with life.

CNN reports that more and more men are becoming single fathers by choice through surrogate births. In a twist on the larger trend of single mothers having babies through artificial insemination, more and more men, gay ans straight, are having surrogates bear children for them.
