Refill Prescription Information

You must be a registered My HealtheVet user and have checked the "VA Patient" checkbox during registration to refill your prescriptions online. To use this service, click the Pharmacy tab in the main menu bar. Then click the RxRefill tab in the submenu just below the main menu bar. You will see your Pharmacy options in the left-hand menu panel. Choose Prescription Refill to begin refilling your VA prescriptions on My HealtheVet.

The Refill Prescription Information table contains seven column headings. For security and confidentiality purposes, the prescription drug name will not be visible. Each prescription is referenced by its prescription number.

The information in the table is sorted primarily by Fill Date and secondarily by Prescription Number. The triangle symbol next to Fill Date indicates that this column can be sorted in ascending or descending order. You can click on any of the underlined column headings to sort the table information.

To submit a refill request, click the check box on the Active prescription you wish to have refilled, and then click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. Once a refill request has been submitted, you will receive a message on screen confirming that the request has been received by My HealtheVet, and the status of the prescription will change from Active to Submitted. Communication between My HealtheVet and the VA's computer system, VistA, happens once each calendar day. So, when you submit a refill request, it will be, at a minimum, after midnight before the prescription status changes from Submitted to Refill in Process.

When you click the check box for a refillable prescription, you must click the Submit button before you leave the page. If you select a browser button such as Back or Forward, or a change page button in the footer of the table, before you click the Submit button, the check box will be reset and your request will not be submitted. You will receive a warning message on the screen if this occurs. The warning message will remind you to click the Submit button before moving to another page. You can, however, click the check box for a refillable prescription and then click the magnifying glass for more detailed information on the prescription. When you close the View Prescription Refill Detail page, your box will still be checked and ready for you to click the Submit button.

If you are expecting to see refillable prescriptions and there are no prescriptions listed in the table or if there are no prescriptions in an Active status, first check the View Prescription History Information page to see if the status has changed. If you do not see the prescriptions you expect on the View Prescription History Information page, contact your local VA pharmacy for information.

An unlimited number of prescriptions are viewable, and up to 10 prescriptions can be viewed at one time on this page view. Up to 100 prescriptions can be viewed at one time by clicking the View All button in the footer of the table. Click other buttons in the footer of the table to change the page and prescriptions that are viewable.

The date and military time that the Refill Prescriptions Information table was last updated is visible on the lower right corner of every page.

Click the Printer Friendly button to print the complete table of prescription refill entries. This button opens the page that allows you to see the printable information. The Print button on this page will open a print dialog window which allows selection of page size, orientation, number of prints, etc.

To print information about a single prescription, click the magnifying page symbol in the View Detail column for the desired prescription. The View Prescription Refill Detail page will display. Then click the Print button on this page.

Click the Done button to close the View Refill Prescription Information page and return to the My Care page.
