Disaster Recovery Center Hours Change for Weekend

Great Bend, KS -- State and federal disaster recovery officials announced today that the Disaster Recovery Center in Hoisington will modify its hours for the weekend to accommodate those affected by the severe storms and tornado of April 21.
The Center will be open this Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed Sunday. Regular hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., are still in effect.
The Disaster Recovery Center is located in the Hoisington City Library, 169 S. Walnut St., Hoisington. The Disaster Recovery Center offers information on assistance programs available as a result of the President's April 27 disaster declaration.
Disaster programs available include grants to pay for temporary housing needs, minimal home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Homeowners, renters and business owners may also be eligible for low interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help cover losses not fully compensated by insurance.
Residents of Hoisington and Barton County who have damages or losses from the April 21 tornado may be eligible for federal disaster assistance. Renters, homeowners and business owners may apply for assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029.
