Mobile Disaster Recovery Center To Return To Afton June 9 And 11

URBANDALE, Iowa -- A mobile Disaster Recovery Center will return to Union County on June 9 and June 11, according to officials at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD).

The mobile Disaster Recovery Center will return to Union County and be at the fairgrounds in Afton on Saturday, June 9 and Monday, June 11. The center serves individuals and families affected by the severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes of May 5-7.

DRCs - both at mobile and fixed sites around the state - are open from
10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and closed Sundays until further notice.

Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies will be available to answer questions and provide recovery information. Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be ready to discuss disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. Written materials about various assistance programs are also provided to individuals and business owners.

Before visiting one of the disaster recovery centers or mobile disaster recovery centers, disaster victims are urged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or on-line at www.fema.gov. The TTY number is 1 800 462 7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. Those who have questions may visit a mobile center to meet with recovery specialists in person.
