COLUMBIA , Mo. -- Homeowners, renters and business owners who were affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding of March 8-13 and March 30 - April 3, 2006, have been approved to receive more than $24.4 million in assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Missouri Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Recovery Services Summary as of May 31, 2006 :

For homeowners, renters and business owners in Andrew , Butler , Dunklin , Pemiscot , Pettis , St. Francois and Stoddard counties, the last day to apply for disaster assistance is June 5, 2006 . Apply by calling the FEMA tele-registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing-impaired, or apply online.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
