COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Perryville, Missouri, operated jointly by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Missouri Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) will be closing on Friday, April 7, 2006, at 7 p.m.
The Disaster Recovery Center is located at the Perry County Health Department on 406 North Spring Street, in Perryville, Missouri.
Disaster Recovery Centers are general closed when traffic is low, indicating that needs have been met. Disaster Recovery Centers serve disaster applicants who have already applied for disaster assistance. Applicants can visit a recovery center to check the status of their disaster application and to ask questions of federal and state disaster specialists.
Before visiting a Disaster Recovery Center, Missourians affected by the severe weather are encouraged to apply for assistance by using the FEMA toll-free registration number: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. Recovery specialists are available to take calls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, seven days a week until further notice. People may also apply online at www.fema.gov.
FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
