Grants and Awards

HIV/AIDS Research: Technical Leadership and TrainingThrough its grant awards, the Foundation seeks to advance and recognize the work of outstanding professionals committed to eradicating pediatric AIDS. Selected on the basis of their accomplishments, dedication, and innovation, award recipients represent the best and brightest minds in their fields. These grants provide scientists and scholars with the opportunity and resources to focus on issues critical to pediatric AIDS and to accelerate basic research that is vital in the struggle to end this devastating pandemic.

By bridging gaps between scientists and researchers and promoting a forum for the exchange of ideas, the Foundation fosters a collaborative spirit among recipients. Today, Foundation scientists and scholars constitute a growing community of experts at the forefront of the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS.

Foundation Awards

Pediatric HIV Vaccine Research Grants [Check back soon for solicitation]
While PMTCT programs are already reducing newborn HIV infection rates, infants born to HIV-positive mothers are still at risk for contracting HIV through breast-feeding due to the lack of a pediatric HIV vaccine. The Foundation’s Pediatric HIV Vaccine Research program provides grants for basic and pre-clinical research addressing pediatric HIV vaccine design and development.

Operations Research Grants [No open solicitations]
The Foundation is committed to improving prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV programs worldwide, but limited research exists on the effectiveness and mechanisms to improve these programs. The Foundation offers grants for such operations research, which is critical to determining the most effective ways to administer these lifesaving programs. Research findings can then be then widely disseminated to assist in global PMTCT efforts.

Elizabeth Glaser Scientist Award
[No open solicitations]
Named in honor of Elizabeth Glaser, this prestigious award provides $682,500 in research funding over a five-year period, enabling recipients to focus their long-term efforts on issues specific to pediatric HIV/AIDS.

International Leadership Award
[No open solicitations]
The ILA program is filling a critical gap in the development of research leaders in resource-poor countries that are working to eradicate pediatric AIDS.

Two-Year Scholar Award [No open solicitations]
This powerful incentive and mentoring program allows a new generation of scientists to study pediatric HIV/AIDS. Scientists are given salary support of up to $96,000 for two years of work with sponsors who have an established track record in the field.

Two-Year International Scholar Award [No open solicitations]
This program is for individuals from, and working in, developing countries. The Foundation is especially interested in projects that allow scholars to gain developing country experience while increasing the research capacity of the in-country location.
