LINCOLN, Neb. -- The State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers located in Kearney and Lexington will close on Thursday, August 7

The Disaster Recovery Centers hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday - Wednesday. On Thursday the hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The center locations are:

Kearney:
Mid-Town Business Center 
2022 Ave. A. 
Kearney, Buffalo County

Lexington:
Old Wal-Mart Building
1501 Plum Creek Parkway
Lexington, Dawson County

The centers give individuals and business owners who had losses because of recent storms a way to meet face to face with recovery specialists. Anyone who has questions once the centers close, or who wants to register for assistance can call the Federal Emergency Management Agency Helpline, 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech-or hearing-impaired. The lines are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to midnight. Disaster recovery information is also available online at www.fema.gov/assistance.

Anyone who had losses because of the May 22 - June 24 storms, tornadoes and flooding, and who has not yet registered for disaster aid should call the FEMA Helpline by August 19, 2008. That is the last day applications will be accepted.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
