Partnership Resource Center - http://partnershipresourcecenter.org/

The primary goal of the Partnership Resource Center is to be a place where the Forest Service and its partners can find information and tools to help all involved improve their understanding of each other. Learning about the forms, policies, and "language" used by each partner is a starting point. Resource documents and training will benefit all partners as collaboration skills and knowledge increase. The following are specific areas that are linked to information on this Web site.

Appendix B - Regional Priorities

1 Assist in Protecting Communities Adjacent to National Forests

Issue Description
We have a responsibility to assist and support communities adjacent to national forests in achieving a reasonable level of protection from wildfire (and other 'incidents'), crime, and forest disease/pests, to name some of the primary safety threats.

2  Contribute to the Economic Vitality of Communities

Issue Description
Many communities are dependent on forests and rangelands for social, cultural and economic vitality. The 10-Year Comprehensive Strategy Implementation Plan, forest plans and the Strategic Plan for Economic Action Programs provide the necessary framework for working collaboratively to provide technical and financial assistance to communities and natural resource based enterprises.

3 Restore Ecological Functionality of Southwestern Forests and Rangelands

Issue Description
Most Southwestern forests and rangelands and the associated species evolved with fire as a frequent, low-intensity visitor. Human influences, particularly effective fire suppression, have resulted in densities of trees and shrubs that far exceed historical norms. As a consequence we are seeing an increase in unnaturally large and intense fires that kill rather than revitalize forests, impair air and water quality, destroy valuable wildlife habitat and remnant old growth forest, and threaten communities.

4 Ensure Employees Have a Safe and Healthy Work Environment

Issue Description
Safety and health is both a personal and Forest Service responsibility.  Our goal in the Southwestern Region is to incorporate health and safety into our workplace, work projects, activities, and program policies.  We can achieve this goal by recognizing and rewarding safe and healthy behaviors; providing managers, supervisors, employees and volunteer's appropriate and timely education and training; and by aggressively implementing an integrated Safety and Health Program—one based on both compliance and personal behavior.

5 Supervision and Leadership

Issue Description
The Regional Leadership Team (RLT) has established providing quality supervision and leadership as one of the top five regional priorities.  Quality supervision and leadership skills are necessary and essential to creating a rewarding and productive work environment.
