16.  Dexmethylphenidate Reduces Some Symptoms of Chemobrain
(Posted: 06/01/2005) - Cancer patients diagnosed with chemotherapy-related fatigue and cognitive impairment ("chemobrain") were helped by the drug dexmethylphenidate (Focalin®), according to findings presented at the 2005 meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

17.  Methylnaltrexone Relieves Constipation Caused by Pain Medication
(Posted: 06/01/2005) - Seriously ill patients in hospice or palliative care settings who were constipated from their pain medications got significant relief from the drug methylnaltrexone, according to findings presented at the 2005 meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

18.  Aprepitant Reduces Chemotherapy-Induced Vomiting in Breast Cancer
(Posted: 05/06/2005) - Women receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer suffered significantly less vomiting and had better quality of life when they took a new drug called aprepitant (Emend®) in addition to standard drugs given to control nausea and vomiting, according to the April 20, 2005, issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

19.  Palifermin Reduces Mouth Sores Caused by Blood Cancer Treatment
(Posted: 12/21/2004) - An experimental drug called palifermin (Kepivance®) reduced both the severity and the duration of sores and ulcers in the mouth in patients who received intensive chemotherapy and radiation to treat lymphoma and other cancers of the blood, according to a report in the Dec. 16, 2004, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

20.  Pamidronate Fails to Relieve Bone Complications of Prostate Cancer
(Posted: 01/29/2004) - In a combined analysis of two randomized trials, the drug pamidronate (brand name, Aredia®) failed to relieve bone pain or prevent fractures in men with advanced prostate cancer that had spread to the bones.
