Session Cookies: Access to some of our climate data is restricted, and the user must accept (or decline) the terms of use before using the data. The user response is recorded in a session cookie, which expires upon exiting the current browser session. Only the user response and a dataset identifier are included in the cookie. No other personal information is recorded as part of this process.

Statistical information: Statistical information is collected for site management purposes. This government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest to the user population, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. These summary statistics contain the site and domain identifiers of sites accessing our documents. No other individual user information is displayed to the public in the statistical output.
