Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that the deadline
for registration of intent to submit a grant application to the Department
of Justice (DOJ) for Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) is November 12,
2001. The deadline for submission of the official grant application
is December 13, 2001.
According to information received from DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs
(OJP), due to program policy requiring all applications to be submitted
electronically, all applicants must first register in order to obtain their
computer username and password which will permit them to apply on-line
by the December deadline. If the agency has a justifiable reason
why it cannot apply electronically and can demonstrate that it has made
reasonable efforts to comply with the on-line application requirement,
the agency must notify OJP in advance of the deadline to explain its circumstance.
OJP may, at its discretion, allow submission of the application through
the U.S. Postal Service mail or other mail carriers.
Potential applicants may find complete information on the grant
application solicitation on the Internet at the OJP Website at: http://www.ojp.usdoj.fundopps.htm. |
