SBA Opens Two Disaster Loan Recovery Centers In Harrison And Pottawattamie Counties

URBANDALE, Iowa -- Federal and State disaster officials announced today that the U.S. Small Business Administration will open Disaster Loan Recovery Centers in Council Bluffs and Missouri Valley to assist residents and business owners in Harrison and Pottawattamie counties which were added to the disaster declaration for severe storms of May 5-7.

The SBA Disaster Loan Recovery Centers will be at:

Council Bluffs, IA
Mon., July 2; Tues., July 3; Mon. - Wed., July 9, 10 and 11
Hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.    

Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) State Coordinating Officer Steve Zimmerman said, "Harrison and Pottawattamie Counties' residents will have direct access to SBA customer service representatives through these SBA Disaster Loan Recovery Centers."

Federal Coordinating Officer, Carlos Mitchell said, "Help with questions on federal and state disaster assistance is just a phone call away. The FEMA toll-free numbers are available to help residents who have questions about their claims or damages." To register with FEMA residents and business owners may call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or on-line at www.fema.gov. The TTY number is 1 800 462 7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired. The toll-free lines are operated from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (CDT) seven days a week until further notice.

Applicants with questions concerning their SBA disaster loan application may call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 for SBA information and assistance or visit the SBA website at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance. 

SBA representatives will provide individuals and business owners with face-to-face service in completing their loan applications, answering questions about SBA's loan program, and explaining how an SBA disaster loan can help pay for their disaster losses.

Low interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private, non-profit organizations. Disaster loans from SBA are the primary source of funds for repairing and rebuilding disaster damaged private property.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
