SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (DEM) are opening a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Robstown in Nueces County for three days. The DRC will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 14-16, to serve those affected by the severe storms, flooding and tornadoes of Oct. 17 to Nov. 15, 1998.

The center will provide disaster recovery information for individuals who suffered damage to their home or business property in Nueces County, have already applied for disaster assistance and seek additional information regarding the status of their applications. "The application period has NOT been extended or reopened," emphasized Ed Laundy, DEM's State Coordinating Officer.

Individuals will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists from FEMA, the state and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for answers to questions or for referrals on housing, tax, agricultural concerns and disaster loans.
