Recreation - Rent-A-Ranger

The El Yunque National Forest’s Rent-A-Ranger Program is designed to meet the needs of school groups and non-profit organizations who wish to arrange for professionally guided tours of the rain forest trails. Each group will be guided by a Forest Service Interpretive Guide on a 1 hour tour of one of the rain forest’s many trails. Fees for the Rent-A-Ranger program are $3.00/person for groups of 15 or more persons and $4.00/person for groups of 14 or less persons. The per person fee includes the guided tour and also provides entrance to the El Portal Rain Forest Center. The Rent-A-Ranger program is available from Thursday through Saturday throughout the year. Maximum group size is 25 persons. Larger groups will be divided into smaller sub-groups, each with an individual guide. Each school group (elementary/middle/high school) of 25 students must be accompanied by at least three adults/teachers. Rent-A-Ranger tours must be arranged at least 3 weeks in advance of the desired tour date to insure the availability of our professional interpretive staff, and the coordination required forms.
