WASHINGTON, D.C.—GOVERNOR TOGIOLA AND CONGRESSMAN FALEOMAVAEGA APPLAUD DOI’S EFFORT TO PROMOTE AMERICAN SAMOA’S ECONOMY
 
         Governor Togiola and Congressman Faleomavaega today expressed their support of the Department of Interior’s 2003 Investment Development Conference for the U.S. Territories of Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands which will be held on September 8, 2003 in Washington, D.C.

         The Conference will highlight the investment opportunities unique to each Insular Area and will provide potential investors the opportunity to meet with the Governors of the territories, government officials as well as local businessmen.  In addition, the Conference will provide American Samoa the opportunity to educate potential investors regarding the special investment incentives in the territory. 

         “We are excited about the opportunity for American Samoa to attract investors that will utilize our local workforce, benefit our local economy and respect our territory’s traditional values and customs,” said the Governor and Congressman. 

         “We are committed to finding ways that will improve and diversify our local economy and we commend Secretary Gale Norton and DOI for hosting this conference which exemplifies the department’s continued support of the territories’ efforts to promote, develop, and strengthen our individual economies,” concluded Governor Togiola and Congressman Faleomavaega.
