Science and Technology Programs provide scientific and analytical support services to the agricultural community to improve the quality, wholesomeness, and marketing of agricultural products.

Background and Scope
To centralize Agency analytical services, in 1988 the Agricultural Marketing Service formed the Commodity Scientific Support Division, which became Science and Technology Programs.

Science and Technology Programs support AMS and other USDA agencies, Federal and State agencies, and private sector food and agricultural industries.

The private sector is served on a fee-for-service basis. Private sector stakeholders include farmers and growers, processors, food and agricultural exporters, laboratories, and consumers.

Detailed descriptions of the programs and services can be accessed through the provided links on the right panel.
