Hold war criminals accountable

In another part of the website, Bob Fertik asked that the new Obama administration take steps to investigate whether war crimes were committed by members of the Bush Administration.

The answer given was a clip from an old Biden speech where he says the administration is "looking forward, not backward".  This is provided with the assertion that Bob Fertik's question has already been answered.

That is NOT an answer.  In fact, it doesn't even qualify for a sloagan.  If we do not hold our own war criminals accountable, then somebody else WILL.  It is up to us, for the rule of law, for our national honor, and to prevent torture and illegal detentions in the future, to hold whoever ordered and participated in these crimes accountable.

Please do NOT duck this responsibility.  It is the sworn duty of the President to uphold the Constitution.  Let's see that it's done.

I think this needs to be answered as well.    Noone, not even the President is above the law.  If we don't prosecute people for torture, illegal detentions and generally breaking the laws of our country, we are condoning those crimes and sending the wrong message to future administrations.

We will not leave our children a better world than we inhabit today unless we insist that torture is still a war crime.
